Catherine Ford was born Bloomsbury in London. Because her father's departure the family, it was looked after by her grandmother, mom, and godparents. Ford was suffering from anxiety disorder caused by word associations as a young child. Ford's passion for acting started when she was young. Ford joined the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but after just a few days, decided that she was a poor choice for this school. Ford rather than applying for admission to Central School of Speech and Drama and securing a place on her third attempt she applied for and was awarded an admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall - who later played Pete Tyler in Doctor Who was also one of her fellow students. Ford was graduated in 1993, but at the time, she had already made her television debut in a 1991 episode in the show Surgical Spirit; she adopted her professional title "Catherine Tate". In the Nineties, Tate could be seen on television in programmes including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. The stage was her main focus as well as a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's season 2000-2001. Tate became famous for her stand-up comedy, that were added to Tate's show in the year 1996.
